Libya my New Opportunity

It was on the 24th 0f June when I arrived in Libya. As I board from the Airplane from Doha Qatar, I was expecting a humid weather since my reference is Saudi Arabia weather where I have worked for two years. Together with my fellow Filipino workers, we waited for the driver that the company had arranged to fetch us from the airport. We waited for almost 2 hours when an Arab looking guy with mustache approaches us, upon mentioning the name of our company, we immediately understood that he was the driver who was arranged to pick us. As we travelled in the northern direction of the airport, the wind that slaps on my face that was generated by the speed of the car where we are riding made me realize that the weather is a bit colder here in Libya as compared to Saudi Arabia, wherein at this month of June the temperature peaks at 50°C. After an hour of sightseeing we pass through a residential area of Tripoli (Capital of Libya) and the driver guides us to the company office where we were welcomed by an Egyptian looking woman. She guides us to the front building until we reached the Personnel Manager’s Office. After a short interview and filling up of some Arabic forms they had our passports and instructed the driver to bring us to the camp to take some rest from the 15 hours flight. We travel along the coastal road of Tripoli going to Tajoura area where the workers camp was established. Immediately after we get off from the car we were greeted by the Filipino Camp Boss, as I felt my stomach is grumbling from hunger I told him that we have’nt had our breakfast yet. He asked the cook in charge of the catering services to prepare the food for us. It was Wednesday then when we arrived so immediately the following day I reported to the office which marks as my first day at work. Familiarization with the new working environment was never been tough for me since majority of the employees were Filipinos and it is just a matter of levering ones personality to harmonize getting along with my fellow Filipinos. As the news spreads in the Filipino camp that there were new workers who have just arrived I discovered that two among my kababayans from Baler, Aurora had been working in our company for long years now, the excitement of meeting them and tracing each family’s origin to know if there’s a chance that we are somewhat related to each other by blood. Astonishingly, one of my kababayan is Roger Tena, I know his father but unfortunately I can’t recall if I had a chance meeting him before in Baler. Another one is Lawrence Ruzol, I never met him before but I know some of his friends and relatives in Baler. When I had a chance talking with my mother thru the internet, she clearly explained to me that these two Kababayans from Baler are in fact my relatives..Hehehehe
